District Apostle visit -Christchurch 2012
On the the weekend of the 1 July 2012 our District Apostle, Apostles Williams, Lodewick and Bishop Green together with the members of Christchurch could spend memorable moments together. On the Saturday the Ministers and the wive’s of all the South Island congregations gathered for a divine service followed with a wonderful fellowship for all. This gave all the opportunity to share their feelings and experiences of living in Christchurch with our visitors. On Sunday a beautiful choir assisted in the joy of the service for the Departed. A truly blessed fellowship of God’s children was experienced and the sacraments for the departed were again very special moments for all. Our District Apostle for this service used a text from Job 42:5 as given to all the Apostles of the world. Herewith a few thoughts from this service as taken from our District Apostles report.
“…..Job 42:5 I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees You.

We must have a living relationship with God; He must have a role in our lifestyle. Knowledge of God is not a relationship in itself, one must experience Him. The experience of God’s love is a personal matter for every soul. God’s help is also something that is experienced only when it is felt and not just described. Let us pray that many souls experience the Lord rather than just hear about Him. Our task is to encourage others to have an active faith. All souls must: 1 - Believe in the living word and in the Sacraments.2 - Follow God actively in His ways with sincerity. 3 - Allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us, 4- Actively embrace the opportunities He presents. The Lord said: “For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required” (Luke 12:48). We have been given knowledge and opportunity; we must offer knowledge and opportunity. Apostle Paul wrote: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16). We can also take a lesson from Job: No matter what we must endure, the Lord is always there and He watches as to how we respond. Trust in Him; He will always return love many fold……. “
We want to especially thank the Christchurch congregation for making this weekend such a blessed weekend and especially all the sacrifices that were made in the extensive preparation.
