Youth Convention - September 2015
5pm on the 25th September 2015 marked the commencement of the Youth Convention 2015, when the first youth arrived at the Piha Mill Christian camp nestled in the coastal fringe of the Waitakere Ranges, west of Auckland city.
Youth travelled from as far as Wellington to be part of this long awaited event and the excitement could be felt as youth waited in anticipation for their fellow youth to arrive. All the youth were split up into teams which would be their group for activities to come. Then dinner was served and youth enjoyed meeting and greeting. This was followed by a Burma trail walk through the dark bush depending on each other to reach the other end.The evening was then concluded with marshmallows and sing around the camp fire.

On Saturday was a fun filled day of orienteering followed by a walk down to the beach with the Apostle Williams where youth played games and soaked up the scenic views and sun of Piha beach. Everyone returned to the camp for lunch to prepare for the afternoon program which included a series of team building challenges. Dinner followed and then we had a presentation Joy in Christ!? being the theme from our Chief Apostle for 2015. Work group discussion challenged the youth with many deep matters of their own faith including the question on “how do we forgive?” These discussions were guided by our Apostle Williams who created a wonderful understand on many important matters in our life of faith and was a wonderful preparation for Sunday.

On Sunday was an early start with breakfast and a clean up to prepare the hall for divine service conducted by Apostle Williams who was accompanied by the District Ministers and all the Rectors in greater Auckland. The word used by from 1 Corinthians 1 vs 21-24. The Youth Service was attended by youth parents and was a wonderful culmination of the weekend’s events. The service was followed by lunch and group photos and ended in thanks and prayer with our Apostle.
