Youth Trip Paihia - July 2008
It was with great excitement and after much planning that the youth weekend to Paihia commenced early on Friday the 18th July. The first youth left on Friday morning with the last arriving late that evening. The Saturday was up early for a boat trip to see the famous hole in rock, and see dolphins. Unfortunately the dolphins were not to be found, with the result that all received a complementary ticket to come back for a free boat trip. The boat trip ended with some of the youth being very happy to be on land again. That afternoon all could experience a most beautiful choral singing by the concert choir under the baton of Robbie Simpson, with Michael Diedericks as the MC. That evening the members of the concert Choir, their family, the youth and all the youth leaders enjoyed a wonderful lamb on the spit prepared by Daniel and Johnny from Paihia. Sunday all attended the church service held in Opua Hall, total attendance of 155. After service a wonderful lunch was prepared by the congregation of Paihia, and then came the sad farewells. Slowly we all took leave of new found friends and made our way home. A special thank you to all that made this weekend such a joyous and blessed occasion.
